THE PECIO:
The Kos Island rests on a very irregular rock bottom, between 12 and 20m. deep, split into two large fragments brutally encased between the rocks. Most of the hull is inverted or overturned and, in addition to the two large pieces, there are innumerable fragments and scattered pieces. Its state of conservation is particularly bad for the little more than 20 years it has been submerged. Several recently detached hull plates (2014) have left the machinery of the central crane in the air and have opened the way to various penetrations.
ACCESS:
From a boat, 5.4 miles (10 km) from the Las Palmas Sports Pier, sailing north, once the Queen Sofia Pier is saved. 3.9 miles (7.2 km) from the Victoria Club ramp, in La Puntilla. The immersion point is 900 m away. of the wreck of the authentic Angela Pando and La Catedral. The reef of Las Bajas de La Isleta is 200 meters away. of the wreck.
TERMS:
In the area where the wreck is sunk the swell conditions can be very hard. Normally the wind oscillates between NE to NW and although the current is not usually a problem, the water only allows diving rarely. It is important to leave someone controlling the boat, in anticipation of unexpected sea blows.
In good condition it is a simple dive, but bad sea conditions can turn the site into a hell. It is very important to know when you can dive here, and not do it if the conditions are not suitable.
Being an immersion of small depths, it can be done perfectly with air.
